Piano teacher
Wies van de Poel (1981) is a qualified piano teacher and primary school teacher. She holds her teaching practice at home in Heiloo, where a personal approach, customisation and empathy characterise her way of working.
She studied piano at the ArtEZ Academy of Music in Arnhem with Marjès Benoist and Frank van de Laar. In 2004 she graduated and specialised in song accompaniment. She took various master classes in the Netherlands and abroad with Rudolf Jansen, Irwin Gage, Julius Drake and Roger Vignoles, among others. She has given concerts with various singers, including for the Stichting Muziek in Huis. In 2004 she started her piano teaching practice in Julianadorp.
She is an active member of the European Piano Teachers Associations (EPTA): an organisation of competent piano teachers whose aim is to improve and guarantee the quality of piano teaching by organising additional training and degree examinations. In 2017 and 2018, she was a jury member during the annual EPTA national grading exams.
In addition, she is a member of the EPTA's beginner's methods working group, in which she and the members of the working group analyse and report on the latest piano methods.
Besides her musical activities, she obtained her PABO diploma in 2013 and worked in primary education for several years. Because of this, she has extra skills in the field of didactics and pedagogy that can make piano lessons a success.
In 2015 she obtained the certificate "Unit 1" which qualifies her to teach according to the method Music Mind Games.
From 2013 to 2016 she lived and worked in Willemstad, Curaçao. Mid 2016 she settled in Heiloo where she founded Pianolespraktijk Heiloo.
